A good day for my Letterbox

Just when my post was beginning to be dreary again I received two lovely surprises in one day;

A marvelous mail art package from Melanie Furtado containing not one, but TWO owl prints, a handmade zine, a magnet (that sadly broke in transit, but a beauty nonetheless), a hand-made moth card (I also love drawing moths!) and a little envelope containing bits and bobs that reads ‘Make something’. It was a perfect little mail art package and I am looking forward to replying, even though it may not be until January now!

As well as a peachy little package from the very lovely 91 Magazine, which is made by Patchwork Harmony , a lovely blog and shop that I’ve been following for a while now, I especially love their beautiful interior styling, you must have a peek if you havent already.

I also received my greetings cards from the printers yesterday and I’m so happy with how they look, the card has a lovely matte feel and the image is perfect and crisp. They will be available to buy  in my online shop soon and also at the markets I’ll be at in December.

The Makery Christmas Market

Another date for your diaries petals:

The Makery Christmas Market , Sunday 4th December 11-5, 16 Northumberland Place, Bath.

Bath is such a lovely place to meander, especially in the winter months, I find its old-fashioned charm perfect for getting me in the festive mood and The Makery shop is a place I always visit, a cave of crafty treasures that never fails to inspire. This year they are holding a Christmas market on the top two floors of their emporium with goods from lots of wonderful makers, including As Petals Fall. Also the first 250 buyers receive a goodie bag containing fabric from The Makery, a Mollie Makes subscription and other treats, so make sure you get there early!

Hope to see you there x

Dates for your diary

You will be able to find As Petals Fall at the following events:

3rd December – Christmas Steps Artisan Christmas Market, Bristol (11-4)

The Oh So charming Christmas Steps are holding another of their wonderful markets featuring lots of stalls of beautiful handmade goods, perfect for an alternative bit of christmas shopping avoiding the busy high street and a guaranteed dose of festive cheer with carols, mulled cider and twinkling lights. Perfect.

10th December – Yule Love It! Christmas shopping event at Tenderfoot Gifts, Brislington Bristol (10-5)

I absolutely cannot wait to get along to Tenderfoot gifts as it is a plethora of  beautiful arts and crafts stocking work from so many talented artists/ designers/ makers. Another perfect place to find individual christmas gifts, get inspiration and meet some lovely people.

11th December – Lionheart Magazine Launch party, 40 Alfred Place, Kingsdown, Bristol (1-10)

This event is very special, my wonderful  friend Helen has created the most beautiful printed magazine, The first issue is about bravery, and if ever there was a brave, strong lioness then it is Hels; if you need encouragement to follow your dream/ heart then read about her journey into print.

“Lionheart is a celebration of what can be achieved, emphasising that you and your friends are brilliant”  – Indeed.

This party will be a celebration of having a lion in your heart, and a physical embodiment of the magazine itself, there will be all things good: Craft, things to make and do, cake, music, wonderful people, joy…

Hope to see you there petals x

As leaves fall

Today was a beautiful crisp autumn day, my favourite sort of day. I love the colours of the changing leaves, the smell in the air and the light in the sky. It was perfect for a trip to the woods to take photo’s of some of my new cushions, I’ve combined my own screen printed fabrics with bits of material I’ve collected including Liberty prints and vintage fabrics;

Meet me by the bonfire

I love bonfire night; the simplicity of being warmed by a fire, the smell of wood smoke hitting the cold air, watching sparkles light the dark sky, warm jumpers and homemade parkin. Theres magic in the air and everyone is smiling.

Hello November

Winter is approaching, its dark and chilly, the sheepskin slippers are out, the heating is on and the hibernation has begun, which is perfect as this month I will be beavering away creating stock for my upcoming shop:

As petals fall will be a purveyor of beautiful handmade textile goods, each piece will be unique incorporating a mix of hand screen printed designs, vintage fabrics, ribbons, doilies and pretty material I’ve picked up along the way (including some gorgeous Liberty prints).

My first market stall will be at The Christmas Steps Artisan Market on the 3rd December, which is most exciting. The market is especially for independent artisan traders and the higeldy pigeldy charm of the Christmas Steps is the perfect place for stress free Christmas shopping, There will be carols, mulled cider and pretty lights, ahhh I can’t wait!
