Patterns from space

I love designing patterns with circles and lines, and these satellite images taken from space have inspired me to do some more:

Reclamation exploration

Reclamation yards: I LOVE them, they make me feel happy and strangely calm I think it’s the way objects are arranged into collections; a draw of door knobs, a pile of sinks, a row of chairs, a wall of mirrors, a box of tiles etc… and moving into an unfurnished flat next week gives me a valid excuse to visit as many as I can find and dream of all the things I could buy. This one on Gloucester Road was a wonderful cave of goodness:

Norwegian Wood

“Don’t you think it would be wonderful to get rid of everything and everybody and just go somewhere where you don’t know a soul? Sometimes I feel like doing that. I really, really want to do it sometimes. Like, suppose you whisked me somewhere far, far away, I’d make lots of babies for you as tough as little bulls. And we’d all live happily ever after, rolling on the floor.”

Norwegian Wood is one of my favorite books, and the film adaptation is just BEAUTIFUL. I loved the colours, the seasons, the sound of the wind in the trees, the clothes, the snow, and most of all the bit where they walk and walk and walk, her leading, him following, going nowhere, just as a means to release energy and emotion.

Retro mint

I like things from the past, vintage objects, trying to emulate 20’s/50’s/60’s style, nostalgia, watching Mad Men etc.. who doesn’t?

>>>I want this camera, it is a thing of beauty, makes pictures look old and whimsical and it’s my favorite colour. I’m going to draw it, and one day buy it.

>>>At the weekend we went to Mumbles (amazing name!)  in Wales, it was a lovely day by the seaside, we came across this Ice cream parlour, it looked lost in time and served Knickerbockerglorys!

>>>I like feeling all 50’s and getting a giant milkshake from Rocatillo’s in Bristol; retro yumness.

I wanted to tell you…

I’ve been having somewhat of a mid-twenties crisis recently (‘What am I doing with my life’). Granted I’ve just got married which is a dream come true, I’ve been half of us since we were 17. However, post wedding I have found myself with a desire to tick another dream off the list. After a three year creative block and months of thinking about it I’ve finally decided to DO IT, I’m going to live the creative dream and work doing something I enjoy.
This decision has resulted in a very long ‘To Do’ list, fear, but most of all, Happiness. It’s not going to be easy, wish me luck and watch this space!

Here is a sneak peek of what’s to come;

Here comes the sun

Little darling, It’s been a long cold lonely winter

Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here

Here comes the sun

Here comes the sun and I say It’s alright

Little darling, smiles returning to the faces

Little darling it seems like years since it’s been here

Knitting + Pudding = Joy

So knitting club has (inevitably?) transformed into pudding club: we discuss the week’s dilemas, eat a sugar based foodstuff and then, if there’s time, do a bit of knitting (we are a massive cliche, I know) This week we had an AMAZING chocolate fondant pudding courtesy of Emily.

I am still battling with the owl cushion but to satisfy my need for a quick pay-off I have made a pair of chunky leg warmers as well:
