Love This: Nature girl and Nature boy

I am in love with these gorgeous prints by Lizzie Stuart;

Nature Girl

Nature Boy

Fitting for our new adventure, such a shame we wont have any walls to hang them on for a while, still firmly on the wishlist though. Available from her Etsy shop, along with lots more illustrated goodness.

Lionheart Launch

Last Sunday the mighty Lionheart magazine was launched into the world, and what a wonderous day it was. After months of waiting I was finally able to see the fruits of Helen Martin’s labour. It was everything I imagined and more; elegant simplicity gracing the thick matte pages, beautiful illustrations, photography and design, talented people, truly interesting features, poetic words, it is a treasure and I can’t recommend it enough, visit the Lionheart website to buy your copy online.

The party was so much fun and I met some brilliant people as well as enjoying time with old friends, highlights included; delicious pizza’s made by my Husband Will, the best cakes ever from the lovely Kimberlee of  The Homemade Mama, a lampshade demonstration by Ruth of  Quincy lampshades, A live illustration (of me!) by the very talented and lovely Gemma Milly and an epic craft session that was loved by all.

The perfect venue – 40 Alfred Place, Bristol

Mail art love from an Annarack

I received a gem in the post this week from Anna Searle, an Illustrator from Newcastle, I have been admiring her illustrations via her blog for a while, intricate geometric scapes in beautiful colours are right up my street. She has also just opened an Etsy shop selling vintage treasures which is definitely worth a visit.

It was the envelope that just kept giving, I felt like I’d found treasure, it contained mountains of  art and ephemera created and collected just for me;

A beautiful original drawing of a compass that I love and cant wait to frame

A delicate handmade paper box with geometric design that opens to reveal a teeny dragonfly; so precious

Some vintage Snow White stamps that are just adorable

A small handmade scroll reading my favorite word

A bag a textile goodies; SO many pretty ribbons, swatches, buttons and some paper cuttings of vintage adverts

These are my favorite buttons, I would like to make a piece of jewelry out of them.

(Thank You Anna for your peachy piece of mail joy, I hope you can be patient for my reply, as I’m taking a break from mail art for a month or two to organise my shop!)

The FABerge project

Here is the faberge egg illustration I did for Anna Jane Searle’s FABerge project, it is based on the Russian ‘Peter the great faberge egg 1903’. I really enjoyed drawing it and the theme was a great idea for a project, if you would like to get involved then see here for more details (the closing date is 01/07/11).

I also recommend a visit to Anna’s wonderful blog Annarack , I love her beautiful illustrations, especially the alphabetized animals.

Doilie design

I love the intricacy of doilies and lace, and I love drawing intricate things, here is an illustration I did that I’m going to turn into a textile design. I just cant wait to get into the screen printing studio next month. BIG things are gonna happen!
